What is energy consumption?

- World Energy Consumption refers to the total energy used by all of human civilization

Why is it important to reduce
energy consumption?
Energy comes from fossil fuels. Fossil fuels are natural resources such as coal, but are non-renewable. The burning of all these non-renewable resources from the earth in threatening the earth and is soon to run out.
How can you help reduce energy consumption?

- Cut down time on / electrical devices such as computers, TV and Phones.
- Always turn off lights when leaving a room.
- Reduce time in the shower
- Don’t use plastic bags, take some reusable bags to the supermarket.
- Put installation into your home to reduce the usage of a heater.
- Reuse items for example, selling or giving away clothes for example instead of throwing them away.

Environmentally:
- Recycle!! Things like plastic can be recycled into a jumper!!
- Solar power. Install solar panels to heat water and stay warm in an eco friendly way.
- Use bikes or your legs instead of a car to get around places. 4x4 cars are BIG polluters as they use a litre of fuel to travel 3km.
- Hydropower. The fast flowing water of a river or reservoir spins turbines and produce electricity.
- Wind power. In windy places, wind turbines can make electricity.

- Meet and talk face to face less than on chat rooms or online message such as face book.
- Limit time talking on phone to save energy
